Small business owners – Are you doing too much?

Small business owners - are you doing too much?

As a small business owner you may need to wear a number of different hats at any one time. Particularly if you are alone in the business, a solopreneur.  You may be doing your own marketing. Your own business development. Your own sales, administration, operations, logistics, chief cook & bottle washer… the list goes on.

So, how effective are you at doing everything?  Is your current business development strategy working?

If you answered ‘yes’, then you are making great money, you are spending whatever time you want with family, you’re travelling, relaxing, playing sport, you have the flexibility and freedom to do what you really want and you are loving every minute of it. Your business can run effectively without you having to be there ALL the time.

Is that you?

If not, you are not alone.  Many small business owners need the help but feel that asking for help in the business is a sign of weakness. In fact it’s a sign of strength.

Billionaires don’t do it alone.

OK. It’s time to do something different and start growing as a business and as a business owner.

Let’s start with your sales. Your conversions. As a small business owner your soft sales skills are important to make sure that the incoming leads are converted into profit. What’s important is not only how much your sales brings in, but how much of it you get to keep.  Your sales conversion skills will be on show when you’re in front of a customer.

Sales leads are as important. You can’t sell stuff to an empty door frame. You need prospects, clients, customers. So how much time do you spend improving your soft sales skills? How effective at conversion are you?

When you, the small business owner, wear your sales and business development hats, consider how effective you are at the sales process. You might even ‘hate’ sales. How easy is it for your customers to do business with you? Why would they spend their money with you?

If you feel that your sales skills are not where they could be, consider getting that help in the form of a sales coach or a business development coach.
